New Brunswick in-person assessments (IPA)
Updated over a week ago

New Brunswick regulations mandate that doctors coordinate an in-person assessment if a patient's inquiry cannot be resolved virtually. Our in-person assessment (IPA) pathway allows patients without a primary care provider to schedule an in-person appointment in a timely manner through Maple.

Inclusion criteria

To be eligible for this pathway, patients must:

  • Require non-urgent in-person care.

  • Live in New Brunswick.

  • Not have a primary care provider.

  • Not have access to a nearby walk-in clinic.

  • Not require controlled substances or sleeping aids.

Directing patients to an in-person assessment

  1. Select Care recommendation from the main consultation menu.

  2. Select In-Person Appointment (New Brunswick, no family doctor) in the Refer patient field.

    1. In the Note for patient field, add a high-level description to explain to the patient why they have been referred to in-person care.

  3. The consultation can be completed once the care recommendation is issued.

Select Care recommendation

Complete the Refer patient and Note for patient fields.

After an IPA care recommendation is issued

  1. Once the recommendation is issued, it will appear on the patient's Maple dashboard (main page).

  2. Patients can click the recommendation to book an in-person appointment with our New Brunswick-based provider.
