If a patient isn't responding to your messages, you may end the visit "With charge" after 10 minutes.

This policy applies to all consultations on Maple. You may complete a visit "With charge" under the following circumstances:

  • You accept the request and send an initial message to start the consultation.

  • Wait five minutes for the patient to reply.

  • If you haven’t heard back, you may send a message of this nature: “It looks like you’re away from your phone or computer. I’ll leave this chat open for another five minutes. If I still don’t hear from you by then, I’ll need to end the visit to assist other patients.”

  • After 10 minutes of waiting, you may complete "With charge".

Note: If the patient initially responds but then goes quiet for at least 10 minutes, you may also complete "With charge."

For OHIP GP consultations, please ensure you select the appropriate billing code:

  • Patient has a verified health card: 000 Visit Not OHIP Compliant

  • No health card: 999 Visit Not OHIP Compliant
