Add or change my jurisdiction or specialty availability — Physicians
Updated over 9 months ago

If you're interested in expanding your jurisdictions or specialties, please reach out our support team at [email protected].

Please note that you may still be required to have a billing and license number to order laboratory work and/or specialist referrals in open provinces (i.e. provinces that allow providers without licensure to practice telemedicine). Providers must also hold active malpractice insurance in any jurisdiction they practice into, regardless of whether a license is required for that jurisdiction.

Our team continually monitors existing provider capacity along with consultation demand to make a determination of when to add providers to additional jurisdictions. If our team is not seeking to meet additional demand in a specific province, we will take note of your interest in expanding; when there is a requirement to onboard more providers for that jurisdiction, we will reach out to you.

If you no longer intend to renew your practice in a particular province, kindly notify us promptly via email, and we will then deactivate this jurisdiction.

Please see below for detailed information regarding specific provincial requirements for delivering telemedicine services.

Ontario provincial telemedicine requirements

As part of expanding to Ontario, you’ll need to:

  1. Ensure you are located in Ontario (a prerequisite for OHIP-covered GP visits).

  2. Send us your updated CMPA coverage with Ontario listed.

  3. Send us your OHIP billing number (required for ordering lab requisitions and diagnostic imaging).

Alberta provincial telemedicine requirements

As part of expanding to Alberta, you’ll need to:

  1. Submit a signed Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) letter to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC). The Alberta Health Information Act requires all Alberta-licensed physicians and nurse practitioners to submit a PIA to OIPC. In order for the PIA to be accepted, it must be submitted individually by the health custodian.

    • When you are ready, we will send you the PIA cover letter; this letter will need to be signed with your address added and then subsequently sent to OIPC.

  2. Send us your updated CMPA coverage with Alberta listed.

  3. Send us your Prac-ID (mandatory - required for ordering lab requisitions and diagnostic imaging).

British Columbia provincial telemedicine requirements

As part of expanding to British Columbia, you’ll need to:

  1. Submit a signed Assignment of Payment (the legal agreement through which a practitioner designates that MSP payments for his/her services are to be made to another practitioner or to a group such as a clinic or hospital - in this case, Maple).

  2. Send us your updated CMPA coverage with British Columbia listed.

  3. Send us your MSP billing number (mandatory - required for ordering lab requisitions and diagnostic imaging).

All other provinces/territories telemedicine provincial requirements

Please email our team an updated version of their CMPA with the new jurisdiction added.
